What to Consider Before Having a Custom Sign Made?

Custom signs are serious business when you consider the impact (or lack of) they make. You really want to think carefully about all possible aspects of your sign project before starting it. Here are some questions you will want to ask yourself before having your custom sign created.

1.       What is the goal for your sign? A sign is a great opportunity to bring in business and drive sales.  Do you want your sign to just identify your location or drive sales (or both)?

2.       What is your budget? Signs can be all price ranges from $50 to thousands of dollars.  Knowing your budget will help determine your options.

3.      Who is going to design your sign? Sign design is critical.  You need to decide if you are going to hire a professional or put together your own design?

4.       What are the copyright laws involved? You have to consider copyright laws.  Be careful not to infringe on any copyrights when creating your sign.

5.       Will you need to obtain your permit or will your sign company take care of permitting? All outdoor signs/banners require sign permits.  This is critical to look into ahead of time.

6.      Where are you going to place your sign? Location is key.  What’s the point of having a sign made if it is not visible to traffic? You also need to ensure you are following sign ordinance laws.

  1. It is amazing how many different things need to addressed when it comes to having a great looking custom sign. I personally have been thinking about having a great looking sign for my own business, but the process does seem like something that could take some time. Something that is really interesting is that you mentioned how all outdoor signs actually need a permit to be able to have it be put up. That would be a great thing to know, and hopefully will be helpful for new businesses. Thank you for sharing. http://www.forrestsignsonline.com
